ABTP's GDPR Meeting draws substantial interest of the IT professionals

London, June 2023 - The Association of British Turkish Professionals - ABTP, successfully hosted its second professional meeting at the Richmond Library Annexe in Southwest London. The event, focusing on the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) law, garnered significant interest from professionals in the Information Technology field.

In his opening speech, Hasan Dikme, Chairman of the Board, expressed his delight at holding a meeting in Southwest London for the first time. He mentioned that the overwhelming response and attendance served as an encouraging indicator for future events. Mert Kahraman, a member of the Board and an IT professional, warmly welcomed the participants in his speech and provided insights into ABTP's founding goals. He highlighted the organization's upcoming profession-focused events, and invitinged attendees to join as members.

A keynote presentation titled Data Protection Law in the UK Beyond GDPR was delivered by Solicitor Ali Guden, who shared his expertise with the audience. Guden delved into essential considerations for businesses in sectors such as e-commerce and retail that collect data, as well as those working in the broader field of information security. Attendees had the opportunity to engage with Guden, posing their questions and receiving valuable insights.

The GDPR meeting showcased ABTP's commitment to facilitating knowledge-sharing and professional development among Turkish professionals in the UK. By addressing critical legal and technical aspects, the event empowered IT professionals to navigate the intricacies of data protection law and ensure compliance.

London, June 2023 - The Association of British Turkish Professionals - ABTP, recently held a productive meeting with a delegation from the Ministry of Labor and Social Security. The Ministry of Labor delegation, which visited the United Kingdom to conduct investigations within the scope of an EU project, had a productive meeting with the ABTP Executive Board at the Turkish Embassy in London.


Led by Metehan Özcan, the Deputy Director General for International Labor Force at the Ministry, the delegation included department heads and experts. The meeting provided a valuable platform for exchanging insights and perspectives on the Turkish workforce and professionals in the UK. Hasan Dikme, representing ABTP, along with Dr. Ayla Torun and Dr. Pelin BoyacıoÄŸlu members of the Board of Directors, actively participated in the discussions.

During the meeting, several significant topics were discussed. These included the development of a comprehensive database to better understand the role of Turks abroad in the workforce, fostering connections between UK based Turkish employers and job seekers, and encouraging the migrant workforce to contribute to the labor market in Turkey. The exchange of ideas and experience paved the way for possible collaborations and future projects, and it was decided to continue the contact for the development of various projects and activities.

Dikme, who gave information about ABTP's founding goals and vision, stated that they will continue their activities to turn brain drain into "brain power on the spot". ABTP remains committed to facilitating constructive dialogues with relevant organizations and institutions, ensuring that the voices and needs of Turkish professionals are represented effectively.

JCT Contracts Event Highlighted Strategies for Successful Construction Project

London, May 2023 - The Association of British Turkish Professionals - ABTP, hosted a highly informative event on May 11, 2023, at Herringham Hall, Regent's University London. The event focused on exploring the key factors contributing to construction project failures and offered valuable insights on how to mitigate risks and ensure successful project outcomes.

The event commenced with an opening speech by Hasan Dikme, ABTP's Chairman of the Board, who emphasized the importance of addressing the unique challenges faced by the construction industry. Dikme mentioned on his speech, the industry's dependency on climate and environment, coupled with traditional resource-related obstacles, necessitates a comprehensive approach to project management.

Two distinguished keynote speakers, Samuel Okoronkwo, a Barrister specializing in Construction Law, and Owen Drury, a Quantity Surveyor (QS), shared their expertise and experiences with the attendees. The speakers shed light on essential strategies for effective tender document preparation and highlighted methods to prevent disputes, delays, and claims during construction projects.

The event proved to be invaluable for professionals involved in the construction industry, including architects, engineers, project managers, and stakeholders. Attendees gained valuable insights into the primary reasons behind construction project failures and learned practical approaches to mitigate risks, enhance project planning, and ensure successful project delivery.

ABTP Launch Reception was held with enthusiastic participation

London, January 2023 - Association of British Turkish Professionals - ABTP official launch reception was held in London, on January 27th, 2023.

 

The launch, attended by approximately 200 guests, took place at the Royal Society of Art - RSA House, The Great Room. In the event, where an enthusiastic crowd came together and developed their networks, Chairman of the Board of Directors Hasan Dikme and founding member Professor Ibrahim Sirkeci gave speeches about the foundation aims of the association and their visions for the future.

 

ABTP, which started accepting members after the reception, where the first step was taken to establish strong bonds between professionals in the UK, invites Turkish professionals in the UK to actively participate in the professional committees to be established.
